From all over the world, our immensely talented state/nation heads are directing initiatives in their communities to create positive change in children's lives!

Northeast U.S.A.

Prisha Dedhia - MA

A junior from Acton, MA, Prisha is our Massachusetts State Head. With Light 4 Kidz, she states she has  “joined such an incredible organization and a beautiful community of people passionate about the same causes as me.” Outside of L4K, you can find Prisha volunteering at Umbrella Arts Center or the Brigham and Women's Hospital. She was a Candidate at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society this year and hosted a chess summer camp for kids. In the future, Prisha wants to pursue oncology. 

Danielle Walters - DE

A senior from Smyrna, DE, Danielle joined Light 4 Kidz as a Delaware State Head to make a larger impact outside the state of Delaware. Joining Light 4 Kidz gave her the opportunity to address this issue with a community she could depend on. At school, she's the president of Future Medical Professionals of America. She also volunteers at a local museum and works with children to help facilitate their interest in the sciences. Danielle loves to play piano and wants to study epidemiology in the future.

Reema A. - MD

A junior from Maryland, Reema joined L4K as the Maryland State Head to spread awareness of opportunities for youth to be engaged in their communities, and to help organize medicine-related events so that students can have an active role in learning about medicine and science! She is involved in Pre-Med and Science Olympiad clubs at school, and volunteers with health organizations. Reema enjoys drawing and playing/listening to music. She hopes to explore a pre-med route in the future.

Sindhu Vontikommu - NJ

A sophomore from Morris Plains, NJ, Sindhu joined L4K as the New Jersey State Head. Passionate about our cause, Sindhu states, "Through my involvement with Light 4 Kidz, I hope to utilize my skills and knowledge to help educate and empower others in making informed healthcare decisions." Currently, Sindhu plays tennis for her school team, involves herself in a myriad of school clubs, volunteers with SEWA, and is a Student Council Chairman. She enjoys playing tennis and running. In the future, Sindhu hopes to be a primary care physician.

Southeast U.S.A.

Lena Feleke - TN

A junior from Nashville, TN, Lena joined L4K as the Tennessee State Head because she has always wanted to do more work in the mitigation of health disparities, and felt like being a part of this initiative could allow her to support and be a part of the effort to give people, especially kids, more access to strong healthcare. Outside of L4K, she is a state officer for TSA, founded her school’s HOSA, and participates in Science Olympiad. Lena is a student at the School for Science and Math at Vanderbilt. She is interested in STEM and speaks both English and Amharic. In the future, she wants to do work in neurosurgery + research. 

Radhesh Gupta - GA

A junior from Cumming, GA, Radhesh joined L4K as the Georgia State Head to make a difference in the lives of kids, helping to give them medical access for a brighter future. He cannot wait to bring about a positive change in people’s lives. Outside of L4K, he is the president of South Forsyth Vibha, an international organization for child betterment. In addition, he has earned the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service award for his work tutoring students and in the Red Cross. Radhesh has published two books and loves to write in his free time. In the future, he wants to become a neurosurgeon.

Anya Iyer - NC

A senior from Charlotte, NC, our North Carolina State Head Anya joined after seeing the work and effort being put in by fellow high schoolers to support a cause which was not spoken about or recognized as much, in order to make an impact on children's lives. Anya is involved in hospital volunteering, community leadership, ISF (a pediatric cancer nonprofit), and debate. In her free time, she loves to play tennis, travel, and listen to music. Rashmitha Bathina - FL

A junior from Winter Garden, FL, Rashmitha joined Light for Kidz as the Florida State Head because she adores children and firmly supports the organization's goal to provide for low-income children and their families with healthcare and resources. Outside of L4K, Rashmitha participates in a multitude of activities, including being a chapter leader of the Women's Alliance in STEM, student intern at Sky is The Limit, math tutor, and president of her school's Neuroscience Alliance Club + FCA. She plays the violin and composing music, and seeks to pursue neuro-oncology. 

Anusha Singh - AL

A senior from Birmingham, AL, Anusha is our Alabama State Head. She states, "I joined Light 4 Kidz because it connects me to passionate people across the country with a common goal of bringing hope to children by breaking down their barriers to strong healthcare." Currently, she participates in HOSA, Science Olympiad, and the newspaper at school. Outside of school, Anusha leads a volunteering program at a science museum, volunteers at hospitals, and tutors. She enjoys playing the violin in her free time and is a black belt in Taekwondo. Anusha hopes to go into emergency medicine or pediatrics.

Illeana Lopez - SC

A junior from Columbia, SC, Illeana joined L4K as the South Carolina State Head. She is a part of L4K because she thinks it is important for healthcare to be accessible for all. Outside of Light 4 Kidz, she is on varsity track and cheerleading at school, and has volunteered with children in the Philippines, in addition to teaching toddler tumble classes. Illeana loves to read and learn new things, especially about neuroscience and psychology. She aspires to be a neurosurgeon.

Siddhi Rajput - KY

A sophomore from Louisville, KY, Siddhi is our Kentucky State Head. Siddhi states, "I have been working on promoting awareness for healthcare-related issues and have been wanting to make a bigger impact through an organization like [L4K]. I am committed to giving back to those who are not as fortunate as I am." Currently, she's involved in HOSA, TSA, Beta Club, and Speech; she's also on a college-level dance team. Siddhi enjoys doing yoga and dance, in addition to singing and playing instruments. She would like to be an OB-GYN in the future.

West U.S.A.

Linda Yoonseo Lee - AZ

An Arizona State Head from Phoenix, junior Linda Lee joined L4K to reach other organizations and make an impact internationally. Currently, Linda participates in her high school’s National Honor Society and plays violin. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her dog and reading. Since she was young, Linda has wanted to be a doctor, and plans to become a pediatrician.

Victoria Lee - CA

A junior and Southern California Regional Head, Victoria, from Irvine, CA, joined L4K because she has always wanted to serve her community by providing better access to healthcare, and also to create an impact globally. She’s involved in Science Olympiad, HOSA,  National Honor Society, Compassion Youth Ambassadors, and a youth orchestra outside of L4K. She plans to channel her passion for healthcare by volunteering at UCLA hospital. In her Victoria enjoys spending time with her family. She wants to pursue a career in medicine. 

Kavya Kumar - CA

A California Regional Head from Cupertino, CA, Kavya joined L4K because because she is passionate about medicine and enjoys working with children. She is currently a part of 2 non-profits and is starting her own student board at her school in partnership with the American Cancer Society. Kavya is an officer in 4 clubs at her school. During her free time, she volunteers, plays softball, and serves as a TA for the California Tamil Academy. Kavya is a lead in her school's theatre department and has been involved in theatre for around 5 years! She is excited to help kids and hear their stories! Kavya aspires to be a pediatrician.

Alan Kim - CA

A sophomore from San Jose, CA, Alan joined L4K as a California Regional Head because he enjoys advocating for humanitarian causes and their missions to bring aid to children. Alan wishes to help increase awareness about the lack of healthcare globally. At school, he founded UNICEF Club and does Speech & Debate. He volunteers at a local nonprofit for special needs families, teaches kids how to skate/play ice hockey, and is conducting research on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Alan loves playing ice hockey, drawing, and writing. In the future, he strives to become a neurosurgeon.

Jasmine Segal - CA

A senior from California, Jasmine is a California Regional Head. She joined L4K to bring easier access to healthcare for children all around the world, with hopes to give back to the underserved. Outside of L4K, Jasmine is involved in tennis and various organizations dedicated to women’s rights, medicine, and community service, such as: prehealth2success, The Inqurist, Girl Up Convergence, and Girls Education Association. In her free time, she enjoys reading and cooking. Jasmine aspires to be a psychiatrist. 

Arushi Rai - UT

A sophomore from Salt Lake City, UT, Arushi is our Utah State Head. She joined L4K because she loved the idea of supplying kids with medical education and resources. L4K has enabled her to create engagement and a lasting impact. Outside of L4K, Arushi participates in soccer, dances Kathak, and competes in debate, HOSA, and DECA. She also volunteers at a hospital. Arushi also works with organizations to further development in South Asia. In her free time, Arushi enjoys spending time in the outdoors and painting. She's eyeing a career in neuroscience for her future.

John Luu - WA

A senior from Auburn, WA, John is L4K's Washington State Head. John states, "I joined Light 4 Kidz because I love the prospect of a student-led non-profit organization dedicated towards improving healthcare accessibility for fellow disadvantaged youth." Currently, John is involved in his school's Associated Student Body, Environmental Club, National Honor Society, Key Club, and Green Energy Team. In his free time, John enjoys practicing piano, swimming, and learning new things. In the future, he hopes to achieve a fulfilling career in healthcare/medicine.

Midwest U.S.A.

Courtney Nelson - WI

A senior from Beloit, WI, Courtney joined Light 4 Kidz as our Wisconsin State Head because she wants to make a difference in the lives of others, and found L4K as a way to do such. Outside of L4K, Courtney is in Science Olympiad, was on her schools math competition team, and has interned at KANDU Industries, a non-profit organization that aids in providing jobs and care for people with disabilities. Courtney enjoys swimming, rollerblading, playing Minecraft, and babysitting. In the future, she wants to get her MD to pursue a career as a neurosurgeon.

Bella Kim - MI

A senior from Troy, MI, Bella is L4K's Michigan State Head. She emphasizes, "It would be a memorable and meaningful experience to be part of Light 4 Kidz and support children's health." Outside of L4K, Bella is involved in various clubs and activities at school: she's President of Spanish Club and Dental Club, Vice President of Badminton Club, and Public Relations Officer for Science National Honor Society. Additionally, she has a passion for tutoring kids! In her free time, Bella enjoys ice hockey. She wishes to be a cognitive scientist in the future, and she's always ready to commit!

Richita Tera - OH

A senior from Powell, OH, Richita is L4K's Ohio State Head. She joined Light 4 Kidz in order to advocate for better healthcare outcomes for disadvantaged children and their communities, as she firmly believes that healthcare should be a fundamental right, not a privilege. Apart from L4K, Richita is the founder and director of the nonprofit organization CardioAssist, working to provide underprivileged populations in her local community with easy-to-use heart support kits. She's also a cardiology research intern at the Mount Carmel Research Institute and its Women’s Heart Program. Richita enjoys playing tennis and running track, and she seeks to pursue clinical research.

International

Siobhan Lee - Canada

A sophomore from Toronto, Canada, Siobhan joined L4K as the Canada Nation Head, in order to gain more leadership experience and collaborate with other individuals aiming for healthcare-related careers. Siobhan also founded her school’s spirit club, volunteers at Next Stop Canada YMCA, and interns at an endocrinology office. In her free time, she loves to cook, listen to music, and watch movies. (Fun Fact: She can crack her fingers an unlimited number of times with no cooldown period)! In the future, Siobhan plans to become either a pediatric surgeon or OB-GYN.

Whitney Elaine - Mozambique

A senior from Maputo, Mozambique, Whitney is our Mozambique Nation Head. Whitney strongly believes that "raising awareness is particularly effective and important in our society because it informs individuals about issues that are unfamiliar to them and motivates them to take action to affect change." Outside of L4K, she was the president of Model United Nations in 2022, and is a member of the writing department for Simply Neuroscience. Whitney is keenly interested in global health, biomedical sciences and identity politics, sociology and international relations. She wishes to pursue global health studies in the future.

María Fernanda Montiel Quiñones - Mexico

A college freshman from Puebla, Mexico, María is our Mexico Nation Head. As a driven medical student, María joined to make in beneficial impact in the world of healthcare. At her university, she's the head of a scientific diffusion chapter. María also loves to learn new languages and aims to pursue a career in medicine.

Emma Araki - Japan

A senior from Yokohama, Kanagawa (Japan) living in Lexington, Kentucky (U.S.A.), Emma is our Japan Nation Head. She joined to take part in supporting medical access internationally. She was also inspired by her fellow high schoolers helping those in need. Outside of L4K, she's a section leader in her school marching band, is a part of NHS and NHHS, tutors students learning Japanese, and is beginning research at a state university. Emma loves learning about new cultures and traveling, and she wants to study genetics and genomics in the future.

Nilam Bhojwani - India

A college freshman from Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, Nilam joined L4K as the India Nation Head because she wants to create an impact in society, by helping youth who are the leaders of tomorrow. Outside of L4K, Nilam is a treasurer at the Girls Education Association and a volunteer at the Brain Bee bootcamp. In her free time, Nilam enjoys coding (her passion!), playing basketball, watching movies, and dancing. In the future, she wants to become a software engineer. She aspires to build solutions in the field of healthcare and in social society using technology.

Phanuel Kwaku Acheampong - Ghana

A senior from Accra, Ghana, Phanuel is our Ghana Nation Head. Emphasizing his excitement to work with a team of dedicated individuals who are committed to making a difference, Phanuel states that every child deserves access to high quality healthcare, regardless of their background or circumstances. Outside of L4K, he's a volunteer at the nonprofit Break The Silence Against Domestic Violence; additionally, he's also a mentor at Future of Africa, a nonprofit that helps children in poverty via education and skills training. In his free time, he enjoys reading on the internet and crafting his own recipes. In the future, Phanuel seeks to be a software engineer or a neurosurgeon.
